Andrew Cameron (Ph.D. candidate, PBEE)

Andrew is broadly interested in the ecology and evolution of host-symbiont interactions. His work in the Vega Lab leverages C. elegans as a “model host” to explore how host genetic variation, especially variation involved in innate immunity, impacts gut microbiome communities. When not in lab, Andrew can often be found biking, running, or lost in the woods.

Jack Monroe (M.D./Ph.D. student, PBEE)

Jack is interested in how transmission bottlenecks shape the stability and evolvability of viral pathogens. His research uses the C. elegans host model to study the evolution of its natural RNA virus, Orsay virus. Outside the lab, he enjoys running on the Atlanta Beltline, playing adult league soccer, backpacking in North Georgia, and escaping to the beach whenever he can.

Alison Myers-Beck (Honors)

Alison is interested in how the evolution of phage-microbe interactions can shape microbiomes and impact plant resilience. Her research uses Pisum sativum as a host model to study how the use of static phage cocktails on mutualistic bacteria impacts growth and production. When not in the lab, Alison can be found hiking at every National Park possible, gardening, or reading.
